HISTORY OF MALAS
For thousands of years, Malas have been used as sacred tools for meditation, prayer, intention, and spiritual practice. Their origins are traditionally traced to ancient India, where they became closely connected with Hindu and Buddhist traditions and the practice of repeating sacred mantras.
A traditional Mala is made with 108 beads, a number that carries deep spiritual and symbolic significance across several Indian traditions. As the beads are moved one by one through the fingers, they provide a tactile rhythm for repeating a mantra, prayer, breath, or intention—helping bring the mind away from distraction and into a deeper state of presence.
The practice of using beads for prayer and contemplation has parallels across many cultures and spiritual traditions, including prayer beads used in Christianity and Islam. While the traditions and meanings differ, the underlying practice is beautifully similar: using something tangible to create space for reflection, devotion, and connection.
Over time, Malas have evolved beyond their traditional use in formal meditation. Today, they may be used during meditation and breathwork, for intention setting and manifestation practices, or simply as a personal reminder of growth, healing, or a commitment to oneself.

HOW TO USE A MALA
Using a Mala is simple and meditative:
Hold the Mala gently in the left hand.
Move one bead at a time through your fingers while reciting your mantra or intention. You can choose any mantra, any intention to repeat 108 times.
Begin at the Guru bead and continue around the full circle until you return to it.
It is believed that due to these synchronicities, repeating a Mantra 108 times will ingrain the intention into the soul and DNA of our being. Bringing our intentions to life and coding our sacred Blueprint with our manifestations. This energetic contract has one very important aspect to it: you. The Blueprint to who you are and how you go through this life is intrinsically unique, no two are ever the same.
My intention is to create a Mala that is your energetic architecture; mirroring back to you where you have strength and where you need support with your intentions. Using the energetic properties of crystals, giving my guidance for stone selection, exact bead counts and rhythm, marker bead symbolism, Guru bead orientation, cord and tassel color and knot count numerology.
This is not just aesthetic, it is architectural. For our custom Mala clients, I can use your birth chart and as much information about you I can find or is given to me to piece together the multitude of layers to detail that these Malas can hold.
